Changelog 2009-02-23
Monday, 23 February 2009, 0039

Critical Updates
- Having resided on the same server for over four years, my entire hosting account has been migrated to a new, faster Linux box. The new server features an Intel Xeon quad-core 3.20 GHz with 2 GB memory and by every indication it is blazing fast. All the same, please report any abnormalities you may discover.
- Upgrade Primary CMS to WordPress 2.7.1, fixing nearly sixty-seven reported issues.
- Upgrade Gallery CMS to Coppermine 1.4.20, fixing seventeen reported issues.
- Continuing RSS feed refresh issues have been traced to two sources: the draft/revision features of WordPress and how RSS feeds are regenerated after updates. I disabled all draft/revision features to fix annoyances on the administrative side and to prevent old articles from appearing as new in the RSS feed after the post is viewed in edit mode. To stop article updates from regenerating the RSS feed and showing old posts as new, the WP Minor Edit plugin is now employed.
Code, Theme and Feature Updates
- Various minor code updates and visual revisions.
Outstanding Issues
- UPDATED: I have discovered several cross-browser issues with Internet Explorer incorrectly rendering certain page elements. This issues will be resolved during the next upgrade cycle, since they are cosmetic in nature (and I do not have to look at them using Firefox). Three specific items: ordered list spacing is too compressed; blockquote padding and coloration are wrong; and comments are indented.

Changelog 2009-01-05
Monday, 05 January 2009, 0612
Monday, 05 January 2009, 0612

Critical Updates
- Outstanding RSS issue resolved. All feeds are operating normally. References to former feed locations are redirecting automatically. Depending on how your feed reader is configured, you may have received a number of RSS updates from the site during the repair process. If this is the case, my apologies.
Code, Theme and Feature Updates
- The two primary feeds, Articles and Comments, are now powered by FeedBurner for maximum compatibility.
- Another site integration milestone was accomplished with the transfer of all secondary site pages (e.g. About, Contact, etcetera) to the CMS and the server-side reorganization of certain system files. Major code updates were required for this process.
- Corrected a long-standing issue with page TITLE tags. Each page will now identify itself more precisely for better internal navigation and search engine optimization.
- Countless visual updates and enhancements, more of which are bound to come with the next code revisions. Those will have to wait for a while, though—since things are working better now, I can focus on developing some content!
Outstanding Issues
- There are probably a few things I missed during the past few days of work, but there are currently no known issues.

Changelog 2009-01-01
Thursday, 01 January 2009, 0916
Thursday, 01 January 2009, 0916

Critical Updates
- Upgrade redirection script to improve performance and fix several bugs.
Code, Theme and Feature Updates
- Created new Article Archive page which expands upon the existing window of the same name. You can now browse site content by month posted, category, most commented and last posted.
- Added improved pagination features to help move between articles. The front and category pages provide page by page navigation replacing the "older posts" and "newer posts" links, while individual articles provide "previous article" and "next article" links.
- Restored the ability to browse articles by category and added category hyperlinks to article footers.
- Added link in Article Archive window to the latest Changelog update.
- Replaced bulky "hyperlinks" section on Changelog pages with a streamlined, two-link option to browse previous site updates.
- Updated search field (Article Archive window) to contain the default text "enter search terms" to help identify the field's function to users. When clicked, the field clears for easy text input.
Outstanding Issues
- RSS feeds are malfunctioning intermittently. Several attempts to correct the problem have failed, so more research is necessary. I hope to have a working fix in place within the next five days.
