For anyone interested in a non-component system that packs a nice punch, you might look into the Sony MHC-GX45 Mini Hi-Fi Component System like I got. The sound quality is very crisp and clear, even at louder volumes. With the volume turned up moderately and the enhancement mode ("groove" and "v-groove") enabled, an electronic album can be heard at the other end of the house over televisions. At quieter volumes, with enhancement disabled or the sub-woofer turned off all together, the sound quality is still clear and full. The only thing "mini" about this system is the physical size of it, measuring in at roughly 41 inches with all the components lined up side-by-side
